24 ROAD SOLO & SLICKS & KNOBBIES

Below is for Competitive 24 Hour Solo  & Slicks & Knobbies only.

 

Racers start in Mack Dick Pavilion & make the climb out of Palo Duro Canyon.

 

You will then complete the 100-mile route listed on the map (to the right).  The 100-mile route is non-drafting.  There will be 6 stocked rest stops & support vehicles on the course.  DIRECT FOLLOW VEHICLES ARE NOT ALLOWED.  Your support crew may be on the course in order to meet you at the designated rest stops.  Once you complete the 100-mile lap, you will re-enter Palo Duro Canyon & head to Juniper Campground (24 SOLO) or turn into Chinaberry/Soapberry (SLICKS & KNOBBIES).  Upon swiping your timing chip, you will complete your first lap.  The rest of your 24 Hours will be spent inside Palo Duro Canyon on the road loop (24 SOLO) or on the MTB  course (SLICKS & KNOBBIES) where you may draft.

ROAD LOOP IS 5 MILES – MTB LOOP IS 8.5 MILES

 

If you are not at REST STOP 4 (Arney) by 4:30 pm, you will be pulled from the course by one of the support vehicles & returned to Palo Duro Canyon. 

 

24 SOLO will compete against others who register for the same bike category and who also fall into the same age bracket – 14 & Under, 15-17, 18-34, 35-49, 50+.

Slicks & Knobbie racers are categorized only as Male or Female.

 

Top 3 in each age bracket for the road and Top 3 Males and Females for Slicks & Knobbies will be awarded trophies.

TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN FOR 100 MILE LOOP = 2,225 ft.

TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN FOR ROAD 5 MILE LOOP (24 SOLO ROAD) = 203 ft.

TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN FOR MTB COURSE (Slicks & Knobbies) = 450 ft (EVEN YEARS) & 410 ft (ODD YEARS)

 

 

Below is for Competitive 24 Hour Teams

 

You will start in Mack Dick Pavilion (at least 1 team member must be present)

 

Upon starting, you will ride towards the road loop in the bottom of the canyon and ride in a clockwise direction.

DISTANCE OF ROAD LOOP IS 5 MILES

 

24 Competitive Teams will compete against others who register for the same bike category and who also fall into the same team category – MM, FF, 2 Person Mixed, MMMM, FFFF, 4 Person Mixed, M LARGE, F LARGE, Mixed LARGE.

 

This info is not for 12 or 6-hour solo racers, or non-competitive road.
